Apple fanboyism is now verified as religion-like

That many Apple product owners defend Apple fervorously is nothing new. I have many times heard comparisons between this behavior and that of religious people defending their faith. It is therefore interesting that this idea has now been put to the test.

It appears that these so-called fanboys display traits, and even have MRI results that are representative of religious people. This corresponds well to the expressions some people have given about the evangelistic types of meets and advertising that is customary for Apple.

It is important to note that not all people fit into this category. Many users find Apple's products convenient, user-friendly, and enjoy the products and services that are now commonplace in relation to their products. There is no sense in drawing any religious analogies where these users are concerned, and any attempt is nothing short of foolish. Apple does deliver quality products despite the brand lockin that customers are indirectly accepting, and I can blame noone for such an interest in these products.

However, as far as fanboys are concerned, and based on the results of the tests that were done, I would personally draw a comparison to fundamental christianism as to the fervorous desire of fanboys to argue in favor of Apple. These are the ones that are seen and heard as they are purposely very vocal, and seem to have a large personal need to 'spread the word'. When presented with argumentation against Apple, product lockin, sesnuring of software, lack of openness, etc, these are never truely refuted by the fanboy, who rather uses bad logic to skirt around the presented issues.

Anyway, it is good to finally know that it is proven pointless to discuss anything Apple with a fanboy, since any logic and reasoning will merely be deflected since it doesn't coincide with their belief system. :)

HDMI dock for the Galaxy Tab

Galaxy Tab HDMI docking station
I was in the store the other day and noticed that the HDMI dock had arrived. We got to test it on there TV's to see how they worked. Interesting results to say the least.

The HDMI dock requires power to be used. This is most likely due the the fact that the Galaxy Tab doesn't actually have an HDMI signal, but rather has native Displayport, requiring active converting to get the signal to the TV.

Samsung Galaxy Tab - A short review

Samsung Galaxy Tab
An iPad-killer it is not, but Samsung's contribution to the tablet world is without a doubt an interesting and rich product. But there are two clear groups of tablet purchasers out there: the 10-inchers and the 7-inchers. This is obviously a completely platform independent preference.

Let's get this out of the was before continuing. If you have your mind set on maximizing real estate (physically), a 7-inch just won't do. I will, however, recommend that if you fall into this group, wait until testing a smaller device before making your decision. There are very real advantages to a 7-inch tablet.

Microsoft claims Windows tablets coming - misplaced confidence

With the apparent explosion in tablets quickly approaching, it isn't any surprise that Microsoft make a statement that they are joining the party. They obviously wouldn't want anyone to forget them. But will the tablets boasting Windows really be any competition for the increasingly popular Android and iOS? I'm not so sure.

Tablets in education

I have previously written about the possible use of Tablet PC's in an educational environment. It's then a natural progression to give the newly established tablet market a consideration as well. They have some of the same advantages as Tablet PC's, but some obvious restrictions as well.

The Tablet OS War, where are you?

There are supposedly a miriad of tablets coming to us real soon. With most offering very similar hardware specs, the real questions end up being about price and ports. Android, the OS being used on all but one tablet, is becoming a household word, although I'm not so sure that's a good thing. There are already reports of tablets missing services due to unreasonable demands from Google. They are also being sued because of this scenario as well.

JoikuSpot for N900 - somewhat disappointing

Although this application supplies a bit of needed user-friendliness, there are some disappointing restrictions buyers should be made aware of.
